Aransas Pass/ Corpus Christie

On our way to Aransas Pass we  got a flat tire, in fact it was a blowout, an RVer's nightmare.  Tom was able to perform roadside assistance and off we went.  There was damage to Cecil, but repairs will have to wait until we return to Florida.

What you need to know about Aransas Pass:
  • Aransas Pass is a destination for water sports, fishing, birding, kayaking and hunting.
  • The city was named "Aransas Pass" after the pass connecting Mustang and St Joseph's islands.
  • Whooping Cranes winter in Aransas National Wildlife Refuge nearby.
  • Aransas Pass has the largest hummingbird garden in Texas.

The USS Lexington was the first aircraft carrier to have women crew members in US Naval History.
The ship served longer than any other Essex Class carrier in the world.

A fun day onboard the aircraft carrier.

Found a great restaurant to finish a perfect day in town.
We visited Rockport, which is still recovering from last years hurricane.
The locals have done a fantastic job to clean the town up.  Businesses are reopening.
Rockport is a very artsy town, we were lucky enough to run into these three women hand painting this piano to be put on the sidewalk downtown, for patrons of the town to sit and play.

*****Not much negative can be said about this park. Everything is in working order, everything is clean, Wifi works at your site, phone service is good.  Parking on a concrete pad, plenty of space to park your truck, put out your chairs.  Nice to walk around, roads are concrete, huge rec hall.  Only warning, if you walk on the grass watch out the the sandburs, they really really hurt, had to pull them out of our shoes with a pliers, guess it comes being close to the beach.  Also always a breeze, no bugs at night, you can sit out and enjoy the evening.
