MERRY CHRISTMAS 2017

Christmas is upon us.  We are now at our winter home down in Bushnell, Fl, enjoying the park festivities.

Wine and cheese Karaoke.

Caroling in the park, yes its starting to feel like Christmas.

Luminary night was very special.  Most were walking the park, enjoying the candlelit evening.

And we can't forget the cookie exchange.  The mice were really good.
Getting ready for Christmas Eve, and will be getting together with our Florida family this holiday.
We wish everyone a Merry Christmas 🎄

Going Back Home

Finally, able to head back to Florida. This has been a really tuff time for a lot of people, and will continue for some. Thankfully we where able to bring our house with us. Our first stop is actually back to the same place we evacuated from ( Wildwood FL ) for a few weeks.
Don't want to miss the free OJ at the welcome center. You know us retirees.
Nice to catch up with friends again, sad to see some leave for new adventures in Arizona, we wish them well in their new home.
Took a ride out to monkey island at Homosassa, just a beautiful day.

Stopped at Riverside Crab House for lunch.

We took a day trip to The Garden Worship Center in Bellevue, FL with our friend Robert. a very  interesting place, worth visiting.

Time is flying. We will be traveling on Halloween so no trick or treat for us.

Instead we spent the day at the dealership having final warranty work completed.
We attended the Veterans Day Flag Raising Ceremony at the RV resort in Orlando.
All the veterans in the RV resort were acknowledged.

Thank you Dad and Joey and all the veterans and military that have and are protecting our country.

Working Our Way Back to Florida, Next Stop Yemassee, SC

The town of Yemassee takes its name from the Native American tribe of the same name, Yamasee Indians were the most important Indian ally of SC until he Yemassee War of 1715

Angered by unfair trade practices, slavery and whipping of Indians, along with encroachment on their land, the Yemassee and several other Indian tribes rose against the British and killed approximately 100 settlers in 1715.  They were defeated and fled to Florida.  The uprising became known as the Yemassee War

Today, Yemassee  is a very small town, with a population as of July 1, 2017 of 1,135.

This is pretty much the town of Yemassee, only restaurant in town is the Chinese Restaurant, which is the best we have ever had.

The distillery is across the street which is called Luck Duck Distillery, and next door to that is an antique store/deli.  The same family that owns the deli/antique store and Distillery also run an animal shelter between the two buildings.
From 1915 to 1965, the Yemassee train station was the first place where potential United States Marine recruits stopped before reaching the Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Paris Island SC.  Many Marines that fought in wars and conflicts spanning World War I through Vietnam began their careers at the train station.
The train station underwent a renovation project and in 2011 a British reality shown was filmed in Yemassee which resulted in a full cosmetic renovation of the depot's exterior.

We visited the Carolina Cider Company in Yemassee
And went to the Old Sheldon Church Ruins in Yemassee

There were some very old grave stones
Tom taking a shot at preaching
The well still works

This was a good stop, now back to Florida we go.
